Bingo Myths and Legends

We've all seen them, sitting at their table in the local hall, toy trolls with illuminating hair sprouting out, a rabbit foot for a key-chain, wearing lucky socks or even lucky underwear, waiting for that lucky number to be yelled out so they can dot it off on their cards. Lucky Bingo players was considered to be a dying species with the new movement on online bingo taking over, but all they have done is move from their spot in the hall to their desk at home. In fact if anything, they have now got more space for all their lucky elements.

The big question is do all of this trinkets and magical items really help the common bingo player? A lot of people think so, although logic would say otherwise. There are some who believe that certain patterns on the card will increase your odds of winning, however this is just purely a myth.

Although some people might feel more comfortable or are attracted to certain patterns for personal reasons, it doesn't help with the actual playing of the game. The attachment might give the assumption that they play better with them, however. Looking into the bingo myths of trinkets, there are quite a few to choose from. One of the more popular ones is the rabbit's foot.

The rabbit's foot needs to be obtained by a rabbit that is, according to the legend, shot in a cemetery on Friday the 13th. The foot needs to be the left hind one for it to contain any luck properties, but as Humorist R. E. Shay pointed out, the luck didn't work for the rabbit so it shouldn't really work for you either.

Bingo on it's own is just a game of chance. The general theory is that trinkets and charms only truly work if you believe in them and that's if they work at all. Luck is something that happens by random although there is some belief that you either have it or not. People born on Christmas day are supposed to be born with large amounts of it, although this hasn't been scientifically conclusive. Whether this helps you at bingo is whole different story.

There are some theorists, who believe that if a person thinks positively about how such an item, marking, or even the colour of the pen they might use in bingo, that this will create positive energy around them. Although the person might not win the bingo game, other positive things will happen as they are in that state of mind for the day.

Whether this does help the average bingo player has not been proven, but it does generally add a bit of colour to a person's life when they go to the local bingo hall, or see their friends computer, decorated with lucky charms, special items and lucky bits of clothing. Who knows, there actually might be a pot of gold, if not at the end of a rainbow, then perhaps at the end of the bingo card.
